Olefin

Olefin, also called polypropylene or polyethylene, is a long-chain polymer synthetic fiber. It's produced when ethylene and/or propylene gases are polymerized under very distinct conditions. Olefin was initially produced in the late 1950s, and contains an array of uses in producing, household items and garments. Usage of olefin has continuously elevated ever since the 1960s, and constantly grow in level of popularity each year as new functions for this simple, resilient material are found.

Olefin is produced when the polymers are dissolved into a liquid, after that operated on a machine known as the spinneret, that pushes this product in to a long fiber by means of tiny openings. This fiber will then be utilized to create the fabric, and the end product by which it is going to be used. Since olefin withstands dyeing, any kind of dye should be put in throughout this melting process, rather than on the final fabric or product. It's extremely preferred because of its simple, affordable production procedure. Interestingly, olefin is actually enviroment friendly because of the number of by-products created during production. Olefin can also be quickly recycled.

There are lots of advantages of choosing olefin. It is extremely strong and durable, colorfast and stain resistant. The light-weight material - it's got the lightest “specific gravity” of any other fabric - dries out easily and draws sweat and water from the skin. Materials made out of olefin keeps its form very well, which makes it great for packaging and active use. It also produces hardly any static, and weathers effectively under the sun, provided that special stabilizers are put in during production. Olefin is additionally very resistant against damage from chemicals and moisture. Among the disadvantages of olefin is that, since it has a low melting point, it is combustible and can melt if subjected to high temperature. These properties make olefin a great carpet fiber material.
